Volunteer for FOCUS

To volunteer for FOCUS, go to http://www.focus-ga.org/ and print a volunteer application. Complete & fax to FOCUS at 770-234-9131. Someone from FOCUS will call or e-mail you with further information. We do require background checks on all volunteers over age 18.

Basketball Program for Teens

The City Roswell Recreation and Parks is now offering a basketball program for teens 14-17 with a developmental disability (co-ed) for Winter quarter. It will be held beginning on November 5 till February 11, and the days, time, and locations are as follows:

Tuesdays from 7:30 to 8:30, Roswell Area Park Community Activity Building

Saturdays from 12:00 to 1:00, Hembree Park Recreation Center.

The fee is $10 for residents and $15 for non-residents.

Disability Awareness 101

Childkind’s Family Support Services, in partnership with The Center for Leadership in Disability,presents:
Disability Awareness 101 workshop
for Parents, Grandparents, Caregivers, Advocates,
and all Professionals who support
children with special health care needs
and/or developmental disabilities.

When: Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 6:30pm-8:30pm

Why: To discuss services and community resources caregivers, case managers, and service providers of children with special health care needs and/or developmental disabilities.

What will be discussed: People First Language, Medicaid (including
EPSDT and waivers), school topics, advocacy, state and federal legislation:
the Olmstead Decision, the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA)
and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
